Rebels complete trade with Warriors

Red Deer Rebels Owner/President/General Manager Brent Sutter announced today that the club has completed a trade with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Rebels have acquired goaltender Kyle Kelsey (’04) from Moose Jaw, a fourth-round selection in today’s 2022 WHL Prospects Draft (69th overall, originally belonging to Victoria), along with a conditional 6th round selection in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft, in exchange for goaltenders Connor Ungar (’02), Justen Maric (’04) and a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.

Originally signed by Moose Jaw in 2019, Kelsey was honoured as the top U16 goaltender in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) in 2019-20 while playing with Burnaby Winter Club. Kelsey played 28 games with the Victoria Grizzlies of the BCHL in 2021-22, posting a 14-12-0 record, 2.83 goals against average and .913 save percentage.
