To say it’s a well deserved honour would most certainly be an understatement.

Staff writer for reddeerrebels.com and longtime local sports reporter Greg Meachem was honoured on Saturday with the Central Sport Lifetime Sport Achievement Award.

Meach covered the local sports scene for the Red Deer Advocate for over 35 years.

He’s had his finger on the pulse of the Red Deer Rebels since the club’s inception and officially joined our media team in 2016, giving our fans the inside stories only he can provide.

“Greg has been the voice for hockey in the Red Deer Advocate and for the community for a long time,” Rebels Owner/President/General Manager Brent Sutter said in a media release.

“He is very passionate about the game and very knowledgeable besides being a great writer.”

Congrats, Meach!
