Rebels Take A Defenceman In The CHL Import Draft

RED DEER, AB – Jesse Wallin, General Manager/Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club announced today that they have selected defenceman Jan Bittner with their first round, 23rd overall, pick in today’s Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Bittner is 19 years old and from the Czech Republic. He had 15 points (4-11-15) in 42 games last season with HC Litvinov (Czech Junior).

The Rebels will not use their second round pick in the CHL Import Draft.  Each team in the Canadian Hockey League (Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) is allowed two import (non-North American) players.  The Rebels will return import goaltender Patrik Bartosak for the 2012-13 season.
